“Bright, lively and fun is how I would describe my works of melted crayon, watercolor, and cut and torn painted paper. They are meant to delight the eye and bring a smile to one’s face.”
Susan Manbeian has made a life long study of art and education. She is a graduate of Dominican University and UC Berkeley, in the field of Art, and did post graduate work in Art at the University of London. She recently retired to Pismo Beach after 25 years as an art teacher in the public schools in Alameda County.
In addition to teaching Art, Susan was the Art’s Chair for the Fremont Unified School District, and (northern area) President for the California Arts Education Association. Among her many distinguished awards, in 2010 she was named Art Educator of the Year for the State of California.
Susan remains an arts advocate today and is working with the Lucia Mar Foundation for Innovation to bring the arts back to public education on the Central Coast. Susan’s artwork has won numerous awards and has been shown in many group and two-man shows throughout the Bay Area.
